Phonics & English 1 endeavors to cultivate foundational phonics and English skills in your child so he or she can become a proficient reader and communicate in helpful ways. Your child will develop a foundational knowledge of English grammar and mechanics as well as collaborative, listening, and speaking skills. Playful Sounds

Your child will review familiar sounds through games that will prepare him or her to combine those sounds with new ones. These activities also prepare your child to listen for facts and details and carefully follow directions.

Exciting Learning

Phonics songs, colorful visuals, and awareness activities help your child grasp new phonetic concepts, group similar sounds, break down words into syllables, and recognize rhyming words. Your child will also learn how to build words and identify the subject and verb components of sentences. Eventually, your child will progress to writing complete sentences, using the writing process, and evaluating his or her work based on what he or she has learned.

Careful Practice

Your child will have daily guided worktext practice pages to help review what he or she has learned. Phonics Storybooks are also included to help break down sentences, identify important sentence parts, and help your child create new sentences of his or her own. Your child will also learn to interpret pictures and match pictures with their appropriate sounds.

Helpful Assessment

Activities will show how well your child is handling content from the daily lessons. Six unit tests are also included to measure your child’s comprehension and application.
